Finnish pianist Paavali Jumppanen has become known as an exciting and a versatile performer, who is equally at home on stage as a soloist and a chamber musician. His vast repertoire spans much of the classical piano literature, from Bach to the Avantgarde. In the recent years Jumppanen has dedicated much of his time into performing cycles of the complete Beethoven Sonatas.
Paavali Jumppanen chose the repertoire for his first Direct-to-Disc recording with several aspects in mind:
»I wanted to include those compositions for which I feel a special affinity in this new and exciting project. At the same time, I wished to put together a programme which would revive memories of the ‘Golden Age’ of the gramophone record.«
